About the breed

It is history,
and the beginning of everything.

The American Curl began in California in the early 1980s. Kittens are born with straight ears; the curl develops during the first days of life and settles as they grow. Their backward-curving ears are distinct from the forward fold of a Scottish Fold.

Coat

American Curls have a soft, silky coat that lies flat. Both longhair and shorthair Curls have minimal undercoat. Longhair Curls have a full, plumed tail and, because there is little undercoat, only need occasional brushing.

Character

Affectionate, playful and deeply curious, American Curls are natural explorers who enjoy interacting with people. Their accepting nature often helps them settle into diverse households and build trusting, affectionate bonds with children and other pets.

Those ears

American Curls are not Scottish Folds—their appearance and ear direction are distinctly different. Curl ears arc backward toward the back of the head, with an ideal arc of 90–180 degrees. The trait arose from a spontaneous genetic mutation; early genetic analysis found no defects in the crosses studied. Their ears should always be touched gently and never forced or bent into another position.

The right home matters.

The relationship between breeder and kitten family is a mutual choice. We hope every kitten finds the lifelong home that truly fits them—patient, loving and ready to treat them as family for life.

Health documents

Kittens go home with their vaccination record and a veterinary health certificate. Breeding cats are genetically tested.

Vaccines & spay/neuter

Our current plan is a first vaccine around 2.5 months, a second around 3.5 months, and spay/neuter before homecoming when age and weight allow.

Worldwide travel

Rabies vaccination and travel arrangements can be discussed when required for international destinations.

The form includes our full policies, deposit terms and agreement. Please read it before joining the waitlist or asking about an available kitten.
